Airport Roof Protection
The metal roof of this Airport building was suffering from localized corrosion. Leaks had been reported in multiple locations. The roof was cleaned and spot primed with Corro-Tech GP. Non-corroded areas were treated with Uni-Tech MC Primer. The 600 ft² roof area was then treated with the Poly-Tech System. This consists of one coat of Poly-Tech, which is totally reinforced using Poly-Tech Reinforcing followed by a second coat of Poly-Tech. |

Bearing Housing Repair
A bearing housing was very badly worn on both the
inside and outside. It was repaired without being dismantled. The roller bearing was fixed in the housing.
All gaps were sealed with Metal-Tech RG. After these were sealed, Metal Tech FG was injected with a
cartridge between the roller bearing and the bearing housing. The bearing housing was back in service in a few hours. |

Car Factory Tile Floor
The tiled floor in an area of this car factory had become badly damaged due to the high level of use. A high performance self-leveling system, which would completely resurface the worn and eroded floor and offer long-term protection was required. The tiles were suitably prepared, ensuring the surface to be coated was clean, dry and free from contaminants and treated with Floor-Tech SP Primer. Our three component, solvent-free epoxy self-leveling screed Floor-Tech XSL was then applied. Floor-Tech XSL provides outstanding abrasion, impact and chemical resistance. Chemical Resistant Floor Protection
A high performance, exceptionally chemical resistant coating was sought to protect the floor area in this hostile
environment. The new concrete substrate was prepared in accordance with the Thortex System Recommendation ensuring that the aggregate in the concrete was not exposed
and that all resultant dust and abrasive material was removed. The surface was primed with Floor-Tech SP Primer to a thickness of 100 microns. Two coats of Chemi-Tech UC, each to a thickness of 300 microns, were then applied to the floor area. Chemi-Tech UC

This heavily trafficked corridor is exposed to the elements on one side, thus making the tiled
surface extremely hazardous. The tiles had been laid many years ago and removing them was not an option, despite their smooth surface being a potential hazard in wet weather. The client required a hardwearing, anti-slip coating that would offer long-term protection. The tiled surface was mechanically abraded to create a physical key and primed with Uni-Tech GP Primer. One coat of Floor-Tech HB was applied, into which Thortex HD Grip was incorporated to provide the required level of slip resistance. A second coat of Floor Tech-HB was then applied to fully encapsulate the 0.0591 inches anti-slip aggregate and to provide a greater degree of wear resistance to this extremely high trafficked area. Floor-Tech HB is a solvent-free, ceramic-reinforced, high build epoxy coating that offers optimum levels of adhesion, abrasion and chemical resistance.

Gutter Protection
The roof of this building has two 162 ft. long box gutters. The client required a long-term high performance protection system, which would waterproof and weatherproof the gutters. The reinforced Poly-Tech system was recommended for this application based on the fact that it is totally unaffected by ponding water or permanent immersion conditions. The surface of the box gutters was prepared ensuring the substrate was clean, dry and free from contamination. It was then primed with Uni-Tech MC Primer prior to the application of the Poly-Tech system. This comprised one coat of Poly-Tech into which Thortex Chopped Strand Matt was embedded, followed by a second coat of Poly-Tech.

Incinerator Chute Refurbishment
The concrete chute is used to collect the waste deposited by the garbage trucks at an
incineration plant. It had been subjected to extremely heavy wear and was in very bad condition. A heavy duty repair system, which could be used to repair the chute in stages in order to minimize plant downtime, was sought due to the aggressive industrial environment.
The concrete surface was suitably prepared to ensure the substrate was clean, dry and free of contamination
and treated with Grano-Tech Primer to obtain maximum penetration and adhesion. The concrete was then repaired using 3,968 lbs of Grano-Tech. Grano-Tech is a three component, solvent-free, heavy duty repair mortar that offers high levels of abrasion, impact and chemical resistance. It is ideal for the repair of damaged concrete, ramps, walkways, loading bays and steps.

Railing Protection
Due to the effects of the environment and time, the railings located along this road section were suffering from heavy corrosion. A high performance refurbishment solution, which would offer long-term corrosion protection, was required. The railings were abrasive blast cleaned to a minimum industry standard Sa2, ensuring all rust, millscale and loosely adherent coatings were removed. The blasted surface was then treated with our anti-corrosive, surface tolerant epoxy Corro-Tech GP prior to the application of Uni-Tech UV. Uni-Tech UV is a two component polyurethane coating developed for the long-term protection of all types of structures including steel, aluminium, galvanized steel, brickwork, concrete and GRP,
when used in conjunction with an appropriate Thortex primer. It is totally unaffected by extreme levels of ultraviolet light and provides outstanding weather, chemical and graffiti resistance. |

Roof Refurbishment
This section of roof had deteriorated over time and now required a cost-effective waterproofing system, which
would protect the building beneath. The roof was cleaned, dirt and debris removed and any damaged areas repaired. Poly-Tech WG was first applied to the substrate, fully embedding Thortex Chopped Strand Matt, followed by a second coat of Poly-Tech WG. |

Rotary Lobe Blower Refurbishment
Process Gas Compressor rotary lobe blowers were found to be severely eroded/corroded.
The rotors were abrasive blasted. All deep areas were
filled with Metal-Tech EG and Cerami-Tech EG and leveled to provide a suitable rebuild base. One coat of
Cerami-Tech FG was applied followed by two coats of our solvent-free, low friction epoxy coating Cerami-Tech CR. The same procedure was carried out on the head plates but without the Cerami-Tech CR topcoat - a final coat of Cerami-Tech FG was applied. The casing was rebuilt using Metal-Tech EG, leveled and finished with one coat of Cerami-Tech FG. |

Runway Repairs
A runway was suffering from the general breakdown of corner edges and joints due to wear and tear over time. The edges were cut out to remove all loose concrete and squared off. The expansion joints were reconstructed and filled with Flexi-Tech 80. The runways were repaired with Floor-Tech PR. |

Salt Water Pump Refurbishment
The main suction/dredger pump on a shrimping boat was used to lift shrimp and shellfish from the sea bed; it had suffered extensive wear due to severe abrasion and corrosion. The pump was reassembled and coated with Corro-Tech AP and over coated with Uni-Tech UV. |

Scroll Case Refurbishment
The internal surfaces of a 120 ft long / 12 ft diameter hydro-electric power station scroll had deteriorated significantly due to the volume of water and high level of use. It was now in need of complete refurbishment. The Cerami-Flex system was selected. Cerami-Tech EG was first trowel applied and then a stiff bristled angled paint brush was used to smooth out the high spots and uneven areas. A thickness of 750 microns was
achieved. In order to achieve the required finish,
the surface of the Cerami-Flex EG was sandblasted. After removing resultant dust, a thin coat of Cerami-Flex FG was roller applied over the entire surface. |

Secondary Containment Area Protection
The concrete walls and floor of this 150 ft × 150 ft × 15 ft secondary containment unit,
which houses a 60 ft high gasoline tank, had developed
cracks. Following a site survey, it was established that there were 52 vertical and horizontal cracks and joints to seal which totaled over 4800 linear feet. The areas to be repaired were grit blasted using an angular abrasive
and treated with Flexi-Tech Primer. Flexi-Tech 80 EG was then applied. |

Secondary Containment Repair

due to years of service. A maintenance inspection found that a welded rapair, performed several years earlier, had worn out once again. Metal-Tech EG is a two component, epoxy metal repair compound. It provides enhanced corrosion and chemical resistance as well as good mechanical strength in one easy application. |

Shower Block-Wall and Floor Repair
This shower block had deteriorated enormously due to the high level of usage. Over the years several tiles had been replaced and many more now needed replacing again. The grout lines had become very badly contaminated with mold meaning that the entire shower block was in need of refurbishment. Thortex products are ideal for this type of refurbishment as they are able to completely upgrade this type of application. The Wall-Tech WB system was chosen for the walls and the Floor-Tech WB system was chosen for the floors. This has now provided a totally seamless environment which is easy to clean and maintain and removes the problems that were being experienced before.

Sodium Hypochlorite Containment
A containment area and tank were being converted to hold Sodium Hypochlorite, the existing coatings would not handle this chemical. The concrete was primed with Floor-Tech SP Primer. A 40 mil coating of Chemi-Tech USR was applied to prevent permeation and subsequent attack of highly aggressive solvents. Finally, Poly-Nox coated the tank. This high performance acrylic coating has excellent elastomeric and corrosion resistantance. |

Spectator Canopy Refurbishment
The spectator canopies an NFL Stadium had been earmarked for refurbishment. A high performance, liquid applied, roofing membrane was required to provide long-term protection to the canopies. The substrate was suitably prepared, ensuring dirt and loose debris had been removed prior to the application of Poly-Tech BP Primer. Our single component, water-based elastomeric roof coating Poly-Tech was then applied. Poly-Tech is a roof protection system, which has been developed by Thortex for the long-term protection of all types of roof surface. It has outstanding waterproofing and weatherproofing properties and offers optimum levels of UV resistance, flexibility and durability.

Structural Steel Fire Protection
These steel columns were blast cleaned and primed with Corro-Tech WB. Our single component, water-based intumescent coating Pyro-Tech SP was then applied to the required micron thickness. On account of its unique blend of fire and flame resistant resins and intumescent
pigments, Pyro-Tech SP minimises flame spread and therefore limits the speed at which the fire will propagate. A maximum of two hours fire protection can be given to structural steel. A pigmented finish, Pyro-Tech SP Sealer Coat was applied to the Pyro-Tech SP in a color. |

Sulfuric Acid Containment Area
Sulfuric Acid had spilled from the pumps and tanks at this power station. The acid severely corroded the concrete plinths and secondary containment areas. Chemi-Tech UC was chosen over 20 other competitive products to cover the 7,500 sq. ft. area. First, the area was primed with two coats of Uni-Tech MC primer, a aggregate was scattered into the second coat, where a slip resistant surface was required. Tunnel Wall Repair
This tunnel which carries cables to a large hypermarket was suffering problems with regards to water

Zinc Roof Rerfurbishment
An apartment built in the late Nineties, the roof of which was covered with zinc metal
sheets. Due to the low quality of the roofing material, the roof had started to show signs
of corrosion and leaks had begun to occur, especially at the joints of the metal sheets
as well as against the parapets, upstands and
chimneys. The owners sought a high performance elastomeric roof coating, which would offer long-term protection and superior resistance to the elements. All surfaces were cleaned to remove any dirt & contamination and the deeply corroded sections of the substrate patch primed with Corro-Tech GP. The entire roof was then primed with Uni-Tech MC Primer followed by one coat of Poly-Tech, into which Poly-Tech Reinforcing was embedded. A second coat of Poly-Tech was then applied. Poly-Tech is a single component, waterbased liquid applied coating which has
outstanding waterproofing and weatherproofing properties.
