A containment area and tank were being converted to hold Sodium Hypochlorite, and the existing coatings could not handle this chemical. The concrete was primed with Epoxy Sealer SP810. A 40 mil coating of 3M Scotchkote 323 was applied to prevent permeation and subsequent attack of highly aggressive solvents. Finally, Encapsulation Coating Polynox 136 coated the outside of the tank. This high performance acrylic coating has excellent elastomeric and corrosion resistantance.
A water treatment facility had a concrete water tank with a crack, and only had eight hours to make the repair. Viscotaq sealant was used because it requires no surface preperation, it has outstanding corrosion resistance, and it allows for a quick return to service.

The New York State Bridge Authority, as part of its ongoing bridge refurbishment program, required a high performance encapsulation system that could be used to protect the previously painted steelwork as well as cable bundles, shrouds, and spider joints. 12,900 ft² of the Mid-Hudson Bridge were coated using 3M Scotchkote Encapsulation Coating Polynox 136.
This concrete containment area had been earmarked for refurbishment. However, all they needed was a high performance coating that would resist acid. They first used 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Ceramic Rebuild EG 513, a metal repair compound, to rebuild metal components. Next, 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Coating 175UC, a high performance, solvent-free coating, was used to provide chemical resistance even under total immersion conditions.
A carbon steel impeller on a dust extraction fan had been subjected to ''heavy wear.'' All loose material was scraped away. The surface of the impeller was degreased using 3M Scotchkote 020 Cleaner and then blasted cleaned. Our multi-purpose ceramic epoxy 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Ceramic Rebuild EG 513 was used to rebuild the deeply pitted areas prior to the application of two coats of 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Ceramic Surfacer FG 512. One coat of 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Ceramic Surfacer CR 511 was then applied.
The surfaces of this gate valve had been subjected to severe erosion and corrosion as a result of the very aggressive operating conditions. All loose material was scraped away. The surfaces were then blast cleaned. Our multi-purpose ceramic epoxy 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Ceramic Rebuild EG 513 was used to rebuild the internal surfaces of the gate valve, after which 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Ceramic Surfacer CR 511 was applied.
Large high pressure tanks, measuring 10.5 ft in diameter by 15 ft in length, were found to be leaking around the rivets. The tanks were shot blasted and the problem areas were diamond ground to create a key. Repairs were then carried out using our rapid curing, engineering grade polyurethane repair compound 3M Scotchkote Urethane Metal Repair RG 501. The tanks were coated with 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Primer GP 120, which can be used as an excellent anti-corrosive primer and finish.
The concrete chute is used to collect the waste deposited by the garbage trucks at an
incineration plant. It had been subjected to extremely heavy wear and was in very bad condition.
A heavy duty repair system, which could be used to repair the chute in stages in order to minimize plant downtime was sought due to the aggressive industrial environment.

It is ideal for the repair of damaged concrete, ramps, walkways, loading bays, and steps.
3M Scotchkote Epoxy Ceramic Surfacer CR 511, resurfacing and lining system, and 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Coating 162EP were used to refurbish an intake pump badly cavitated after years of service in a salt water environment.
On News Year’s Day, this drain commission had a bad leak on a 3 inch “T” and did not have any replacement parts they could use. Fortunately, they had ordered an Unconventional Solutions Ultimate Pipe Repair Kit 4 months earlier. They intended on this being a short term repair, but it has been in service well over 20 months.
A waste water treatment plant's primary sludge pump was not working to capacity due to years of wear and erosion. The pump was abrasive blasted and rebuilt with our hig-performance metal repair compound, 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Ceramic Rebuild EG 513, developed especially for metal in fluid-flow environments. It was finished with 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Ceramic Surfacer FG 512, a fluid grade resurfacing compound with high levels of erosion and abrasion resistance.
Due to the effects of the environment and time, the railings located along this road section were suffering from heavy corrosion. A high performance refurbishment solution that would offer long-term corrosion protection was required.
The railings were abrasive blast cleaned to a minimum industry standard Sa2, ensuring all rust, millscale, and loosely adhered coatings were removed. The blasted surface was then treated with our anti-corrosive, surface tolerant epoxy 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Primer GP 120 prior to the application of 3M Scotchkote Urethane Coating UV 840. <3M Scotchkote Urethane Coating UV 840 is a two component polyurethane coating developed for the long-term protection of all types of structures including steel, aluminium, galvanized steel, brickwork, concrete, and GRP when used in conjunction with the appropriate 3M Scotchkote primer. It is totally unaffected by extreme levels of ultraviolet light and provides outstanding weather, chemical, and graffiti resistance.
