The drying drum at this paper mill had become badly corroded and suffered heavy cavitation due to years of service in an aggressive chemical environment.
Our two component, engineering grade metal repair compound 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Metal Repair EG 503 was used to rebuild the surface of the drum, which was then machined smooth. Two 300 micron coats of 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Coating 175UC, our two component solvent-free epoxy coating designed for use where exceptional resistance to chemical attack is required, were applied.
Epoxy Concrete Repair PR 415 was used to repair extensive areas of an Airport taxiway at one of the busiest airports in the world. The areas for repair were only available for 7 hours throughout the night and all repairs had to be cured to a compressive strength of 12,000 psi. The repairs proved a complete success with the regular flow of aircraft using the taxiway the following morning.
The surfaces of this gate valve had been subjected to severe erosion and corrosion as a result of the very aggressive operating conditions. All loose material was scraped away. The surfaces were then blast cleaned. Our multi-purpose ceramic epoxy 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Ceramic Rebuild EG 513 was used to rebuild the internal surfaces of the gate valve, after which 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Ceramic Surfacer CR 511 was applied.
A heavy duty floor protection system suitable for concrete floors operating in an aggressive industrial environment was required. The 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Floor Coating HB 850 was chosen for this application over other coating systems based on its ceramic enhancement. The dense concrete floor, totalling 3,090 sq. feet, was prepared by captive-shot blasting, and primed with 3M Scotchkote GP Primer. The primed substrate was then coated with our two component, solvent-free, ceramic-enhanced, high build epoxy coating 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Floor Coating HB 850 which offers optimum levels of adhesion, abrasion, impact, and chemical resistance.
Large high pressure tanks, measuring 10.5 ft in diameter by 15 ft in length, were found to be leaking around the rivets. The tanks were shot blasted and the problem areas were diamond ground to create a key. Repairs were then carried out using our rapid curing, engineering grade polyurethane repair compound 3M Scotchkote Urethane Metal Repair RG 501. The tanks were coated with 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Primer GP 120, which can be used as an excellent anti-corrosive primer and finish.
On News Year’s Day, this drain commission had a bad leak on a 3 inch “T” and did not have any replacement parts they could use. One coat of 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Ceramic Rebuild EG 513 was used to rebuild the pitted areas of the twin lobe, of which there are two in every Roots Blower, followed by one coat of 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Ceramic Surfacer FG 512. Two coats of 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Ceramic Surfacer CR 511 were then applied to the rebuilt surface of the twin lobe. 3M Scotchkote Epoxy Ceramic Surfacer CR 511 is a solvent-free epoxy coating that provides a smooth, low friction finish, optimum levels of physical & mechanical strength, and superior resistance to erosion and corrosion.
